Why is the Kingscraft houseboats considered the Cadillac of houseboats? Because they are constructed of all aluminum. Unlike a "fiberglass" houseboat which is really made out of wood with fiberglass overlayed on it, an all aluminum houseboat never rots. Which happens frequently to fiberglass houseboats. I have personally seen "top of the line" fiberglass houseboats, with $15,000 worth of rot damage. That will never happen to an all aluminum houseboat like the Kingscraft.
Sometimes, houseboats, can have hundreds of pounds of water in the hull, that has "wicked" through over the years, from hairline cracks. This is impossible with an all aluminum boat.
Many times, you'll find fiberglass houseboats rotting around the engine room doors, where the screws go into the railing around the boat, and the roof.
On the 44' models and up, they also have a 15' beam width. Considerably larger than the 12' and 14' width standard on most houseboats.
There is not even any 2X4's in the floor or ceiling stucture. The structure is constructed of aluminum beams.
